Can Win95B use Win95A .cab files/install files?

My grandpa just got a 486DX 33 MHz for free, that has Win95B on it. However, it didn't come with any of the .cab files incase he changes the networking settings or anything like that. If I stil the Win95 folder from my Win95A computer onto the Win95B computer, will it be able to use those files?

They probably will be good enough. I have got away with win98 .cab files using win95b :)

Sukhoi - if you do that, just make sure you get the "B" updates. The major difference between the "A" and "B" was the introduction of the FAT32 file system with the "B" version, so there's a possibility that if the drive was formatted with FAT32 rather than FAT16, something might gum up. Also, make sure that you get the winsock2 upgrade.

Rgr on the Winsock 2 stuff.

No need to worry about FAT32. :) This is a 250 MB HDD that's running compressed just so it can get enough space for Win95B and Office 95 to fit. :Q When I ran Scandisk I think I remember seeing some big cluster sizes, so that rules out FAT32 also.

You can probably use the files but you will have to search through the Win95A cab files manually. There are more cab files in Win95B than A and the files contain different things even though they have the same file name. I know this first hand when I tried to use the B files on a A system and Win95 did not like the disk because it could not find the correct files in the cab file it was looking in.

Actually I just noticed that all the .cab files are already on the computer in the Windows\Options\Cabs folder. :D
