Isn't it illegal there to drive around with no visible number plate? Tip the cops about his car the moment he drives off in it.

Hmm, where I live if you complain about a car with no plates the town gives them an ultimatum, move it or it will be towed.

my building has 22 spots for the 11 apts in my building, and then there is a general parking area which has about 40.

Call the police and have them write up a ticket. I have an indoor parking garage and sometimes morons from the outside come in and park their cars in our spots. I just get the police to write them up a $50 ticket and if they want to contest it, they'll have to go to court thus wasting a day of their time.

nice ;)

I had a problem last year whereby this person kept parking in front of our apartment on the street (which was fine, we both shared the area), but there was a VERY finite number of spots and they would often use up two...although no markings on the street they'd never pull ahead to the end of the parking-only spot, thus wasting a spot and since there were only 5 or so we finally had to leave them a note.

no plates?? what the hell?

could that not be a stolen car or something that was just left there... obviously since no one is answering, etc.. doesn't that seem like a reasonable conclusion?

call the cops and tell them there is a car with no plates sitting there...

Yep.

Not to mention that is one POS Millenia, everyone knows if you bump up your rim size, you have to lower the car to avoid that jacked look

Just do what my friends and I do. Real late at night drain their oil out. Guaranteed to get rid of the car for a few weeks at least.

I'd call the cops and see if there is anything that they can do about it. Probably not much that they can do but it will likely scare the jerks who keep parking in your spot and maybe it will deter them, at the very least it will get their car towed. Whatever happens I wish you luck because neighbors from hell suck and need to be crucified, or at least ticketed.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I didn't read all the replies. Living in a college town, I have some idea of what to do ;) Call the tow truck company on the sign, they will tow it @ the owners expense. There is a reason the sign is posted :)

Call the police now, and act dumb, cops love to help clueless innocent victims. This will send them on a power trip to your advantage.

The police can check to see if the car is reported as stolen.

If not, unless it is on the street, they can not do anything. If you notice it being driven without plates, then you can report it and they may be able to at least fine the owner.

The apartment management is the only ones (as previously stated) that can request the towing.

If the note does not accomplish anything and the apartment management will not enforce the parking allocations, rather than damaging the car, try to jack up the drive wheels and slip a cinder block under the axle. The block will not show and yet the car will not be able to be moved.

However, you may start a war with the neighbor no matter what is done if you escalate the situation.

If the apartment complex will not enforce the parking, determine the square footage of the parking area and withhold that percentage from the rent. Just make sure that you document the complete situation using dates with a cover letter on your rent payment.
