Can we, the victims of the terrorist acts, sue the binLaden group? I heard it's worth billions. I'm sure they're connected to this atrocity somehow. Besides, when it comes to money, lawyers can find an issue with anything.

I hope you're joking. Are we that sue happy, that when a murderer kills a bunch of people, a group of irate individuals sue just because the murderer's family is loaded?

Please tell me you're joking.

They have had pretty much nothing to do with him since he left Saudi Arabia. I highly doubt they're connected at all.

I'm not joking. If the innocent can be murdered with little remorse and companies like United have to deal with unfair lawsuits, then the family of this animal has to pay somehow. I feel no sympathy for them. Even his mother (or step-mom) believes he's still innocent.

Where there's a will there's a way.

You know that originaly the family name was Bin Laden, untill Osama left Saudi Arabia, then the family changed their name to BinLaden. This happened years before you were born Rison.

Czar, that's not true. They only changed it because they wanted it to look the way it sounded in English. Let's not forget that Bin Laden committed numerous terrorist acts well before 9/11. During those times his family hadn't disowned him yet.

his family is huge. there are some 50 odd brothers and sisters. his father was a man who shared similar
'anti-western' views but did not ofcourse promote them against the regime. if osama had been so restrained,
he would never have distinguished himself.

the country is founded on a base of a militant islam that regards the west as a cesspool of materialist excesses.
wahhabis have been found fomenting revolutions in many of the central asian republics and were instrumental in
seeing the taliban to power. the bin ladens are a microcosm of a rotten monarchy, a government we should not
be proping up. saudi autocrats create and encourage the osamas of their world. lets aim for them.

But you know... that Osama is fighting exactly what the Binladen family stands for. Osama is against Saudi Arabian authority and the rich familys that control SA, the BinLaden family is one of them. The family disowned him way before sept 11.

also.. what would it change if the family would be sued? who would feel better? would it bring some lives back? no, suing serves nothing

wow the american spirit at work. sue sue sue sue. i believe their only connection with him is by last name. and if you think it's "okay" that a lawyer can somehow get money from bin laden's family, then you're no different of a scum than bin laden. just to put it this way, if your brother goes out and commits a murder and YOU get sued for it, how would you feel???

Rison -- zeon is onto something. In other words, unless you can prove that another member of the family participated in causing the damages, they are not responsible for the acts of one family member. Then, only those people you can prove participated would be liable for any damages.

Exactly... the rest of his family hates him, they might be anti-US, but hundreds of millions of people are anti-American. And what are you suing them for anyways? Another thing semi-relating to this, I think this 1.65 million per family is a little too much.... if my mom dies I don't get jack from the government, and I don't see why all that money is necessary.

The Bin Laden family trust supported his filthy ways. Now they must pay. It may not bring back the lost victims, but it'll sure hurt them where it matters most.

Suing is an American pastime. Someone hurts you in any way, you sue them. Sure it won't solve any problems, but it'll make them think twice before they repeat that act. Suing is an end in itself. Even if you lose, they have to spend time and money defending themselves.

These people (the Binladens) may tell us anything in public, but (bank) records tell the true story. Before 9/11, how do we know they weren't supporting this animal covertly. We have to find out one way or another.

Yeah, if you would sue the Bin-Laden family(they have nothing to do with him), I think Osama would think twice about his attacks. Why don't you wanna sue Osama himself?

there have been cases in a few chinese provinces where they have prosecuted parents for the crimes
of their chidren. not here though. not a bad idea, methinks.

don't forget, within a few days of 9/11, upon the request of the saudi ambassador, the u.s. government
helped gather together every member of the bin laden family who resided on u.s. soil and all those willing
to return home were taken there by private jet.

there are safely protected from arrest, even if you can establish any linkage, and any civil prosecutions would
purely symbolic.

Suing a supporter of terrorism or a terrorist will stop the flow of resources to the terrorists. As for bin Laden, liquidation is good enough for me.
