lol, this thread may be more pointless than the teleprompter thread.

I know it is friday, I am bored, and trying to point out Obama is out of place as president.

I mean the guy gets a pen holder made out of wood from a ship that intercepted slave ships coming from Africa.... that gift is priceless. How awesome is that to give the first black president. And he returns the favor with a 25 DVD set of classic movies.

Obama obviously doesn't like Gordon Brown. Which is fine, really, since Gordon Brown is a much better chief than he is. Certainly explains why GB is lowering taxes while Zero is hiking them.

What kind of asshole, though, invites someone to fly across the Atlantic and gives them a set of tea coasters? Might as well not give anything at all.
Your idiocy is confirmed. He didn't come over here for some gift and I'm sure he couldn't give a flying fuck what he was given.

Actually, various UK newspapers report that he was kind of pissed.

Yeah, like the Daily Mail, which reported "Mr Brown is not thought to be a film buff, and his reaction to the box set is unknown." Everyone knows unknown is just British for pissed. The Telegraph ran with this story too. Their take on Brown's reaction to the gift? Well, they didn't mention his reaction, actually... but they were certainly pissed off on his account! And other British press? They didn't really have anything to say about the story. In fact, I put it to you that you cannot find a single source to back up your claim that "various UK newspapers report that he was kind of pissed."

Your move.

If he'd given him an expensive gift, wouldn't all you righties have bombasted him about that, too? :p

Well I do see why winnar posts all of his threads. It is kind of like when you are a kid and you see a hornets nest. Then you throw something at it to stir them up and run.

With the obamanites it is the same thing. I threw my rock but soon I will have to leave though.

Sociopaths do. Others say, why not leave the hornets alone? And mature people say, 'oh, this is a forum for discussing politics and news, and I'll respect the people there.'

You on the other hand see only some hornets and in your continuous attraction to bright shiny objects, see a chance to make some commotion.

It's the same thinking that might make you use racial epithets or cursing 'just to get a reaction'.

I don't mind the point being made as much as others - head of state gifts are a matter of curiosity for many - but your 'it proves he shouldn't be president' shows you as an idiot.

Dr. Phil? Is that you?

Anyways the hornet thing was from childhood. And I will not post anymore fun threads like this if you can show me one thread where people show respect towards one another. The threads usually devolve into name calling and linking to obscure websites to make points.

Gordon Brown better than Obama? Okay We'll swap then! Done deal.

Gordon Brown is a heavyweight political strategist, and maybe even a good organiser, but he's not a good leader. He's a completely charisma-free zone. Nobody even knows who he is. Most people in the world probably still think Blair is in charge.

We'll swap you winnar for whatever. Wait, except Winehouse. Anything but that.

Don't they have the state department approve this stuff so we don't do things that make us look foolish to other countries?

it's so wasteful..... HOW COULD HE DO THAT!!!!"

You.. folks... you "rightwingers" don't get it.

Keep pissing, moaning and crying over stupid shit...

Obama can give banks trillions, dead beats who don't pay their mortgages billions, and a visiting head of state gets a $7.88 DVD set from Sam's Club.. nice..

Of course, if it was Castro or Chavez they'd probably get the royal treatment..

Oh and I take back what I said about Hillary. She is too stupid to figure out how to translate one Russian word. I mean hell she has to know where the Russian embassy is in Washington. Hell she could have went to google.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton learned that lesson the hard way Friday when she presented Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with a gift bearing an incorrect translation -- one that implied hostility, rather than peacemaking.

Clinton presented Lavrov with a gift-wrapped red button, which said "Reset" in English and "Peregruzka" in Russian. The problem was, "peregruzka" doesn't mean reset. It means overcharged, or overloaded.

And Lavrov called her out on it.

"We worked hard to get the right Russian word. Do you think we got it?" Clinton asked Lavrov.

"You got it wrong," Lavrov said. "This says 'peregruzka,' which means overcharged."

So lets assume it happenned...but not in the manner you are telling the story.....
I quote-- examiner.com
Unfortunately, for all the good intention this gift was supposed to symbolize, we apparently could have used Condoleeza Rice for the correct Russian word. The word 'reset' was apparently translated incorrectly, which resulted in the word 'overcharge'. At least, this error brought mutual laughter between Clinton and Lavrov, and Clinton's staff will be correcting the error so that Lavrov can go back to Russia with the right message.

I see nowhere a rift or a calling out or even a disagreement....
In fact the goof brought laughter....

go find the clip on youtube. I saw it on a network news broadcastlast night. And yeh it brought laughter. But my point... she couldn't even look in the phone book and call a Georgetown professor to get the right translation? It wouldn't even had been a long distance call. I am sure Bill has a few contacts at the Russian embassy as well.

Out of place? Maybe compared to the idiot who was in office the past 8 years.
