Can we install a new 1920 screen into a laptop which has 1366*768 screen laptop

Can we do this? I have a old asus k52f laptop with a 1366*768 15'6 inches screen, can I buy a asus aftermarket fhd screen and Install that into it?

If they made a 1920x1080 option for this notebook, the answer would be a probable yes.

Since they didn't seem the have that option for the k52f, I really wouldn't try it. There is a good chance that the screw hole patterns on a newer 15.6" Asus 1920x1080 screen wouldn't line up properly, plus it wouldn't look properly once mounted due to changes in the plastic trim around the bezel. Even a small change of a couple of millimeters could screw this up.

Further, it would require that the motherboard's graphics chipset/module be good for the better screen. If you really want to see higher res, consider using an external monitor.

You'd probably need a different inverter too, at the very least.

If a laptop had different resolution options, I'd replace the entire top of it (LCD, inverter, plastics, bezel, etc.) for safety and simplicity's sake. I've done it before myself, but it's been a while. (The last time was an IBM Thinkpad T30 that got a 1400x1050 display to replace the 1024x768.)

But most of the newer laptops I've worked on had similar layouts, with all the important monitor bits (not just the LCD) enclosed in the lid.

LVDS is supposedly somewhat standardized - some people go to pretty absurd lengths:

Look on laptopscreen.com and see if there is a fhd screen for your specific laptop. On my Dell, to upgrade to fhd, I would also have to replace the cable that connects the mobo to the screen.

I thought the reason that 95% of laptops shipped with 1366x768 screens is because that's the highest resolution supported by single link DVI (or something similar). To go to a higher resolution requires a different cable and video output.

well, it's just cost saving (and market segmentation... if you want 1080p, you'll need the more expensive version of the laptop with more cpu and gpu)

single link DVI can do 1080p @ 60hz

if you are talking about the laptop display cable standard like LVDS, then yeah, i believe you need dual channel LVDS for 1080p. if you search google, you can find people talking about display problems if LVDS channels aren't set correctly and data gets interpreted wrongly

I think that the simplest reason is that going higher would have cost more money, and the VAST majority of consumers just don't care.
