Can we force people to use the system rigs page?

I think there was, not sure if it's still there.

Still, long sigs are rude, at best. Hell, even mine's a bit too long.

EDIT: "Block user signatures" under the almost hidden "Personal Options" section in the profile. It even works.

ya adding a line limit as well as character limit would be nice, i like seeing alot of the sigs but a couple people ruin it for the rest. a 3-5 line limit would be nice.

I like rigs in sigs cuz I hang around trouble shooting sections of the forum. This type of info is neccessary/helpful for assisting peeps with problems. I've noticed if its not in their sig, many seem to forget to add it, and invariably it must be requested etc making the thread longer than neccessary.

Long threads annoy me more than sigs.

I might add that when they fail to include the data in their original post, I will always click on their sig link (if they have one) and it seems like 80% of the time the link is not functioning properely. I assume they've done it wrong, I keep getting to some sign-up page or something that is useless.

This is a *computer* forum, so computer data in sigs seems appropriate. If you wanna get rid of something I suggest you go after the political statement-type sigs and other BS that is not helpful in any way.

Peace 🙂

EDIT: Hey Anubis, cool name, but I thought the "bird-type" avator fit better.

If they can manage to do it in a polite way, I see no problem with rigs in sigs. But when they list 53 components, each on a seperate line it gets annoying (er, got annoying, I've turned off sigs for the moment :Q). Common nettiquette is about 4 lines. Max.

Ironically, I've never been able to get sigs to work. I've never seen anyone's sigs, and it sometimes confuses me when people make comments in a thread, that are implied about their sigs. Oh well.

Good point, fair enough.

I've no problem with the forum limiting the amount of space allocated to rigs. Otherwise there will always be some fool who takes it to the (annoying) extreme.

Have a nice weekend,

Fern
