Can WCUPID be wrong?

I just picked up a second PC for my family. I though I would get a HP MM PC. Anyway, it's supposed to be a Athlon64 3700+. WCUPID shows it as a 3800+.

However, I can run WCUPID and get it to show it's 5x200 for 1000MHz one time, and then the next time it shows at 12X200 for 2400 the next time. Also when I run the realtime clock on WCUPID it will stay at 1000, and jump up to 2400 once in a while. My WCUPID version is 330.

Are there any othe utilities to check with? The BIOS also shows 2400.

If it's an HP, then it's probably turned on and there probably isn't a way to turn it off in the BIOS.

of course you can just into windows power management and put it at "Always On" and it effectively goes bye bye.
