I love this thing - it's the only VR software I've seen so far that I find exciting. I think we need to get 4K per eye density before the detail is high enough to fully replicate a proper desktop experience, but it's still massively cool.
Now I read that this basically mirrors what's on your monitor right? I also read that you must have your monitor turned on in order for this to happen, something about the GPU won't recognize that a monitor is attached if it's not on or hooked up? Which, as i read, is why you need a headless ghost so you don't have to turn on your monitor.
Also if it mirrors your desktop and say your monitor is only 720p @ 60hz ~ then would you not get the VR's default resolution and refresh rate of 90hz? Because I read that people use 4k headless ghosts so they can...I'm assuming here...get the max resolution and refresh rate of the VR screen.
Because I was planning to basically do away with my big screen and just use the virtual desktop to load up at boot, that way I could just turn on PC and put on the VR without having a monitor on all the time. Was going to just get a small monitor for things like reinstalling Windows or anything else outside of Windows desktop.
But recently some DK2 user told me you don't need your monitor turned on which makes me wonder how the heck it can mirror something that isn't known to the hardware to exist?
Also, why couldn't they just make the VR connect to your HDMI output and function just like a regular monitor?
