Can Verizon landline block a number from calling me

Some focking telemarketer keeps sending faxes even tho I'm in the do not call list. I already submitted a complain with the FCC from the number I got in my caller ID. In the meantime..can Verizon block specifics numbers?

My parents used to know someone who would call us, and we reuqested to have hus number blocked. Supposedly the phone company cannot do this without evidence, and to get the evidence for that you have to enter a special key sequence. What I remember them telling my parents is after they hang up with said person to enter a special * code, and after the third time, the phone company would automatically notify the police, and my parents.

I remember hearing that unsolicited faxes are illegal and worth $500 per violation

In CA, unsolicited faxes are illegal. I dunno about the rest of the country.
