he was going blind in town A, and moved to town B and had an eye operation...

on the train, he was asleep, but woke up as it was entering a long tunnel, then thinking his eyes went bad again, he killed himself....if he had been in the smoking car, he would have seen the lit cigarettes!
 
The train was passing by Town A, but only the non-smoking section could see it? He saw it, got depressed, and killed himself? If he sat on the other side (smoking), he wouldn't have seen Town A.

He was depressed and thought of killing himself. His (smoking) doctor was not in his compartiment, thus not able to stop him?

that's crap - what kind of train wouldn't have a single lightsource anywhere? and what does moving have to do with getting an eye operation?
 
Hid doctor was a smoker, and was in the smoking section of the train. If he was in the smoking section, the doctor would have prevented him from killing himself?

I got it!!

He shot you for asking such a retarded question, then couldn't live with himself so shot himself.

If he was in the smoking section, you woudln't have been there.

The solution isn't a solution. It assumes that, at the time of the tunnel, that there would be someone smoking in the other car. It is possible that would not be true.

It also assumes that if in a tunnel you cannot see anything...which is also untrue. What? Trains have lights on them? NO WAY!

if presented the right way it could be pretty good - but the jump to getting an eye operation and a train with no lights (exit signs or anything) make the leap to answer almost pure luck.
 
What tunnel could last longer than just a few minutes. I'm not going to go from full on sleep to groggy then shoot myself before I'm awake.

T-rex theory is much better.

this is a horrible riddle.

the parts about town A and town B are very misleading and the language makes it seem like it was a permanant move.

you could have left out that whole part and just said the doctor's part and it would have made a bit more sense.

 
its really supposed to be one of those 21 yes/no questions game... I was trying my best to answer the questions.
It does need some imagination. But you need to correlate being in the smoking vs. non-smoking section with something viable.

oh well, could have presented better...

I don't know, I thoguht the one concerning him trying to light a cig with his gun was pretty viable.
