a man moves from Town A to Town B. He was sad and frustrated in town A. But after moving to town B, he was contend and happy again. He is sitting in a train going some place. He is in the non-smoking section. (assume he carries a gun with him). During the journey he kills himself. Had he been in the smoking section, he would not have killed himself.

What happened?

Edit: He was not a smoker. The train is not going to town A in particular. Hint: Where the train is going is irrelevant.

Hint: He moved to town B to see a doctor.
 
The train was going to a smokers convention and the non-smoking compartiment was empty and there was nobody to stop him from killing himself?
 
Train crashed and the smoking section had died on impact, but the non smoking side just left him incredibly injured to the point where suicide was the only way out?

Train did not crash. Nor were any of the other passengers hurt.

Seriously, though, we need more info, buddy.
 
If he had been in the smoking section, the air would have been cloudy and he wouldn't have been able to see out the window. In the non smoking section, he was able to see out the window, and he saw a T-rex comming towards the train, so he shot himself.

In reality it was a movie prop being transported on a semi truck down a local highway, but due to elevation differences he wasn't able to see the rig.

town A and town B are on opposite sides of the train track. one side of the train is non-smoking and on town A's side, vice versa for smoking section/town B.

Well just a guess.
