yeah, if you have free space on a drive, you can partition the hell out of it using fdisk or partition magic or (if using win2k) computer management. i'm sure there's plenty of other ways as well, these are just ones i've used.
partition magic and system commander are two proggies i know which allow you to partition without losing data( i think thats what you meant when you said " without formatting"
We had an older version of Ghost that would only work up to 4 gigs max. If I ghosted a drive over 4 gigs, I would then use Partition Magic to resize the partition to the full size of the hard drive. Never had a problem with data loss. I have seen it used to create partitions on the remaining free space on a drive, too. It also can convert from fat to fat32 for partitions over 2 gigs.
