Can two networked computers access internet through dialup ?

I have a co-worker who asked me to set up a pair of computers in her house through a network. Then she said her reasoning was since they only have one phone line, that she wanted both computers to be able to go through the internet using the single phone line. I told her it couldn't be done. Now she has somebody telling her it can. He wants to set up a wireless system, and that both computers can access the internet at the same time. I know that is possible with broadband, but dialup ? Is this possible, and if so will it be awfully slow ?

Oh yes it'll be slow - if you can get broadband, maybe worth a suggestion - however since the Windows 2000 era + , its just a matter of right clicking on the connection, and activating connection sharing on one of those tabs. It can be setup to dial when internet access is needed on the second system.

So, one computer would need to be the "server", with phone line and modem. Wireless between both computers, and second computer can access net through "server" ( which will always have to be on) ?

Uhuh or find a router + analog modem. Latter may be difficult.

Thanks for the info. Seems like such a waste to me. They just want to be on the net at the same time to play games on yahoo. Broadband isn't an option for them since they are too far away. I will let somebody else do it for them, because I know they will complain that it is slow with both computers chugging at the same time.

Just explain to them that it is a limitation of their connection speed and there is nothing you can do about it.
