I currently own a Sanyo DP46849, which is spec'ed at 46" 1080P
http://us.sanyo.com/LCD-Televisions/46-1080p-FULL-HDTV-LCD

my gf's tv is a 32" dynex 720p .
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dynex%26...ynex&cp=1&lp=3

those are links to the 2 tv's(i think)

in a recent example. modern warfare 2, her game looks better than mine. is it because the image is being stretched more. mine looks like it has more jaggies then her's does. is it possible to make games look worse with a lower quality hdtv?

Do you have your system set to display in 1080p?

And it is possible that the game might not support that resolution so the system is upscaling the image which can make it not look as good. Or the TV's are doing the upscaling and 1 is better at it.

Well it is possible for colors and such to look better or worse depending on the panel. TV's also handle scaling in some cases, but I think with the 360 and PS3 they scale before they send it to the screen (someone correct me if I'm wrong) so if that is the case then it shouldn't matter.

If you're ont he 360 make sure you have it set to HD and to 1080P. If the switch on the cord is set to SD it will do SD even if you have the system set to 1080p. I know it sounds dumb but I've seen it happen so many times before, and people just assume their TV is screwed up or the graphics aren't as good as they thought. Also I would set your TV to fixed ratio if you can, I've noticed my TV stretches images from my 360 even though its already filling the screen at 1080p.

with that said..can a lower quality tv look worse than a better brand. such as more jaggies, things at a distance looking worse and worse.

Jaggies, well, that could be attributable to 720p vs 1080p, since they're rendered at the same resolution but then the one would be upscaled more. Your viewing distance could also be the issue, if you're sitting the same distance from both, then the larger size of your TV might make things more noticeable to you.

It's upscaling the game to your 1080p. It will seem worse. And yes, a lower quality TV will look worse than a higher quality TV. That's what the quality of a TV is.

A Sony or Samsung will be an improvement on either of the 2 TVs you mentioned earlier, yes

what console are we talking about here?

the ps3 does 1080p a lot better than the 360, which i really find to look best at 'native' 720 rather than scaled up on a 1080p TV.

edit: read 600hz as 'no 3:2 pulldown required for 24fps dvd's.' nothing else. your TV and games will not look any 'faster'.

Apologies if my post seemed rude. I have compared my cousin's Vizio to my Sony (xbox 360 only) and there's no comparison. His blacks are terrible, the colors are washed out and it just has an all around dull look.

Definitely go for a Sony, Panasonic or Samsung.

If you're going LCD, I'd go with Samsung. If you're going Plasma then I would go with Panasonic. Sony seems to have slightly lower or same quality TVs at the same price as Panasonic or Samsung.

And yes, better TVs make a huge difference. I love MW2 on my Kuro. :)

I watch movies as well as play games on the Kuro so I went with Plasma. If it was just for pure gaming, probably would've went LCD.

with that said. would SD content look better. or at least not as bad. such as wii/ps2 games or SD tv channels.
