Can Toyota mechanics tell if someone is lying about the accelerator problem?

Wondering how many people are purposefully rear-ending people right now for damages saying "OH man, the accelerator! oops!"

Wrong forum.

And why would they rear-end someone? They would be at fault.

They can blame the machine itself, is the point of the OP.

But Toyota may or may not be able depending on the condition of your car after the fact.

Of course, why do you think they are mechanics?

It's only one or two of three possible things.

Carpet in the way.
Computer chip ROM program.
Throttle cable with Hall-Effects sensor switch.

Hint: Carpet won't have a Hall-Effects switch or a computer chip.

No. Any of the pedals can exhibit they symptom at any time. It does progressively get worse though.

Now rear ending with a prius? Nah, it's doing the no braking thing by design.

It has been thought that on a prius hi-bred, that something like low transmission fluid could cause a brake malfunction. The software may not be able to handle the monkey in the machine.
