Can Token Ring printer be attached to Ethernet network?

Here is my problem. I have an HP LaserJet 4 Plus that I need to connect to my network directly (without going through any other computers). I don't have the manual and I can't find one on the Internet. The printer has a JetDirect card in it with Token Ring only. Physically, I can hook up the JetDirect card to my ethernet but will this work. I have tried this but my computers (running Windows XP) aren't finding it. I didn't even know what Token Ring is until today so I am very new to it. I have read a few previous posts regarding Token Ring and it sounds evil to a newcomer. I have found the settings on the printer to adjust the Novell and TCP/IP settings. I'm also getting an error: "I/O CARD NOT READY. LAN ERROR - INTERNAL LOOPBACK". I'm assuming this is because I don't have loops since I'm not using a Token Ring. I'm using a Peer-to-Peer network, without a server. Thanks for any type of help you can provide.

Best Regards,
Jon

NOPE...not without a Token Ring -> Ethernet bridge.

MUCH cheaper to put in an Ethernet JetDirect card.
Can find used/refurb ones relatively cheaply just about anywhere (eBay, part houses, etc.)
Or hang it off an external Ethernet print server box.

good luck!

Or go buy an ethernet print server and you are all set. Probable cheaper then Jet direct card. I have a bunch of LJ4s, 5s and such on my LAN.

Linksys makes a nice, cheap 2 port print server with 4 port switch included. I like it for the $114 shipped I paid for them.

EDIT*** oops after re reading I see print server was mentioned already. 🙂
Thats what I would (and do)
