ok here is what i got and what i want.

I got my current PC that is not wireless.I want him to remain that way.My girlfriend got her laptop and she want to be wireless. She have a wireless card in her laptop already.

My current ISP speed is 100.Mbps.I can download at 500k seconds( half a meg per seconds woohoo!!)

Ok so here are my question:

1-Will i be able to remain non-wireless and my girlfriend be wireless at the same with with this router?

2-I can download at 500k seconds. Will i be able to still download at 500k seconds if my girlfriend laptop is off??Will i be able to split the connection so we both get 250k seconds each??

3-Can this router be secured so i dont get my signal stolen???

4-Should i trust this router??Is this a good band??? Worth it??

5-Can i turn off the firewall in this router?( they said it come with a big firewall)

thanks!!!

Your current one apparently routed you to the Off Topic forum. Yep, needs replacing.

1.) Don't get angry, I'm sure he isn't posting just to increase his count.
2.) This is the wrong forum for this question.
3.) Another post for me!

Ummm...the Networking forum?

1. Yes.
2. Multiple people eat at the same bandwidth. Depending on what is going on you might see it decrease.
3. Yes. WEP.
4. D-Link is fine. I like Linksys.
5. Turn it off? No idea. Probably does some simple NATing. You should be able to put at least one machine on the DMZ to bypass any NATing.

If ppl start responding to questions like this, then everyone will start posing questions like this in off-topic. As far as pleading ignorance of which category to put it in, I see no way you can plead that. Nearly every other category is more acceptable than off-topic, except maybe hot deals and fs/t.

That is the transfer rate if you were using the wireless portion. Since you will be using a hardwire connection you will be fine.

54Mbps wireless...100Mbps wired...even says so on the product page. :p

Edit: 500k/sec is 4Mbps. Sorry to burst your bubble.

If your ISP was 100 Mbps, you would be downloading a hell of a lot faster than 500k a sec

Oh yeah, wrong forum.
