Can this motherboard support ddr3 gpu?

hi, i would like to ask something regarding my motherboard.. i use ECS elitegroup G31T-M7, and on the manual it say it can "support 512Mb and 1Gb DDR2 DRAM technologies for x8 and x16 devices."
does the x16 device refer to graphic card? if yes, does it mean i cannot use ddr3 gc? sorry for the noob question. thanks!

If its got a 16x PCI-E slot, then your good to go. There are no limitations your video card assuming its the right interface.

that's what i heard as well.. but i saw another p43 motherboard which says it can "support 512mb and 1gb DDR2 and 512mb, 1gb, and 2gb DDR3 for x8 and x16 devices". what does that mean? thanks anyway!

Many of motherboards include manuals that are poorly translated from the native Chinese. The "512Mb and 1Gb DDR2 DRAM technologies" refer the the RAM modules supported, while "x8 and x16 devices" refers to the PCIe slot. Poor translation makes it a tad difficult to understand.

Similar situation for that P43 motherboard.

ohh.. so does that mean i can just plug any GPU into a PCI-E slot cos as long as it fits, it will work? the connecting part between the GPU and PCI-E slot remains the same whether the card is DDR3, 4 or 5 right? just plates of metal that conducts data and electricity?
umm.. by the way, this chinese brand motherboard's manual was written in proper english. that's the reason im still unsure...

contacted gigabyte just now and they said there's no conflict is the GPU is DDR3,4 or 5 as long as PCI-E. thanks anyway guys! 😉

Yup, any PCI-e video card will work, as long as your PSU can handle it.

Just struck me that G31 = onboard graphics, so the "support 512Mb and 1Gb DDR2 DRAM technologies for x8 and x16 devices." must also refer to that. But since you're using a video card, it won't matter.
