Can this happen?

did you move your pc and maybe unseat your agp card, or pop your heatsink loose?
also what kind/brand/size of power supply do you have? you could have been overtaxing your psu for a month and it just started to complain about it

my current system is very unstable and if this is true then it might be the psu

I have
1x Athlon with Afterburner gfd
4x hd's
2x cdroms (one dvd and one cdrw)
4x fans
2x cpu fans

1x g400
1x 3com nic
1x sblive
1x abit hotrod controler

could it be that my 300w psu has failed and causing my system to be unstable?

Yea...I'd upgrade that PSU. 300w with an athlon is pushing it...but then you add 4 hard drives, a couple optical drives and lots of fans, you're really heading over the limit. Try a 400watt+ PSU

aw crap :(

I'v been running this system for over 2 years I think, one year with another powersuply which I bought with the "upgrade" (athlon550mhz and motherboard), and I think little less then a year with my current powersuply that came with my full tower dragon case (read antec 1280)

I'm not sure but that power suply might be 350w, but I'll know for sure when I get home.... I'll probably also rip out my old psu out of my router/webserver/thingy computer... urgg would suck if thats the problem

first though, disconnect a few fans :)

ok I'm home and my psu is a Chieftec 340w, and right now I'm running without the 4 extra fans, just the two ystech ones that are on my heatsink

On a Sparkle 300W I run the following:

92mm Delta fan
120mm Delta fan
Athlon XP 1500+ @ 1700+
2 IDE HD's
2 IDE CD's (CD, CDRW)
G400
Turtle Beach SC
D-Link NIC

Never had a problem. A lot of the time Quality of a PSU is better than Quantity. I'm not sure where Chieftec ranks....
