it fell off a galloping horse, apparently.

edit: it doesn't turn on. i took it apart and didn't see anything obviously broken.

No but the first rule of restoring operation is to clean it. It looks like it came out of a horse's ass. :Q

It looks very scratched up for just falling off a horse. Did it fall down the side of a hill with gravel on the way down? :p :D

So uhhhh when you tried to turn it on did it have a battery in it? :p

EDIT: Oh, and at least on my Canon SD, it wont allow me to turn it on without the battery door covered, so you'll have to find whatever mechanism it uses to tell that the door is closed and hit that.

yes, fully charged battery in it

i see a contact in there, i wonder if the parts of the door got brought back with the rest of the camera

$866 with stupid kit lens from circuit city (after tax and minus 10% new customer coupon for online orders). which is about the same price as getting it without lens and with expedited shipping from an online place, and i am 100% certain it's in my hands before leaving for nyc on the 21st. unfortunately, CC doesn't have it without the kit lens.

wow.. tough situation. digital cameras have a rather high tendency to break very quickly if they're dropped without any protection.

your best bet is to take it apart and figure out if any of the circuits are damanged, missing or need to be cleaned.

before you do anything serious, check warranty and with the company. they may be able to do something about it. I mean, you put in about over 800 bucks into this.

I sure hope not.

I think they're referring to the camera he used to take these pictures, not the SD110 ;)

EDIT: *checks EXIF data...* yep
