Does your computer have a DVD-ROM drive? Otherwise, a cheap DVD player will only set you back $30.

Yea, making the Wii play DVDs, when it already has an optical drive, is going to push costs up when standalone dvd players manage to cost $50. :disgust:

Cost of a DVD playback license is non-trivial. Nintendo doesn't get to build DVD playback into everything they make for free like Sony does, since they didn't help to create the standard.
