Again--not sure if the interface has been updated somewhat recently, but up to 5 or more years ago, the connection was dogshit, and you really had no choice. It is/was worse than pre-clip SATA connectors.
I have a newer Denon receiver that is a bit more snug, but it isn't great. One big problem, though, is the stiffness of these Monoprice cables. They don't bend really easy, so it doesn't help at all to have everything feeding into components in a really tight space. Unavoidable, though.
You must have gotten the thicker gauges. Made the same mistake myself first time around. I have one of the 28 Gauge cables from monoprice and it bends better than any DVI cable I've ever had.
