Can`t pass the 200MHz barrier ;(

I`ve overclocked my c2duo e4400 by 200 MHz by rising the FSB from the default 200 to 220. However when I try to rise it to 230... it stops... and when booted it recognizes the CPU like it is 2007 MHz. When I`ve overclocked it to 220 FSB it was found like 2200 MHz cpu, but even with a small step (230) it is like blocked. BTW I am using ASRock mainboard - http://www.asrock.com/mb/overv...ConRoe945PL-GLAN&s=775

I`ve set the DDR ram freq from 200MHz(DDRII400) to 266MHz(DDRII523) but it`s still a crap. I`ve set the voltage to high... What`s the problem? Can you give me a step-by-step tutorial please 🙂
 
Tutorial step 1, read overclocking guides.
Tutorial step 2, dont buy crap hardware (ASRock).

I'm guessing you'll have to change your mobo IF you want an overclock thats noteable, but thats just my prejudice aginst the ASRock brand name. I'd suggest first reading some overclocking guides (some tutorials if you will). GreySky's is good but read through 1 or 2 others.
 
according to the specs on that link the FSB tops out at 200Mhz, my DFI PS83 socket 478 board that I built a system around in 2003 topped out at 200 also, that's not really an overclockers board.

Bet this board will get you there only 60.00 after rebates, I would have got one myself but they didn't have any at Frys when I went and got mine, the GA-P35-DS3L is nice too. both boards should have plenty of OC headroom, not to mention a 333Mhz FSB.

Angerisagift, thanks a lot for the info. This solves the problem I think. My MB is just weak at overclocking. The link you gave me shows a nice MB. Let`s hope I can find it around. Thumbs Up!
 
no problem, both of those boards are all solid state capacitors so they can take a bit more of a beating than most, they have a 1333 Mhz FSB which unless you want to fork down big money for 1600Mhz FSB, will give you plenty of headroom, and they're based in the intel P35 chipset which support "PENRYN" aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh (harps play and light shines down from heaven)
