Can SXGA display higher than 1024x768 on 14" TFT notebook?

I was reading on Dell Inspiron 4000 specs. It comes with either XGA or SXGA display. The XGA can only go to 1024x768, but the SXGA can go higher. How legible is it to run SXGA at
1280x1024?

Thanks.

If you use anything other than the native resolution, the image quality is suck.

IMHO, 1024x768 is the most appropriate for 14". For a 15" probably 1400x1050 or maybe 1024x768 (which I use).

1280x1024 on any 4:3 screen is a mistake, since 1280x1024 is a 5:4 resolution.
