Can sound cards feed front audio ports?

So, I'd like to be able to mount my rear fan correctly (it's crooked right now because it hits the Karajan audio module on the DFI-Ultra-D), and I'm looking for a cheap sound card or something to hook my front audio ports up to. Under 30$ if possible.

What type of connector do the front audio ports have?
Mine have a regular "head-phone like" connecter that I simply plugged in my integrated sound card (nForce 4). So if that what you want, then yes it will work.

Yeah, the front ports are normal, just headphone jacks. But my board doesn't HAVE integrated sound, it has the Karajan module, which is keeping my fan from being in place, which is messin with my airflow. I knew this ahead of time, but it bothers me a lot more than I thought it would. So I need an expansion card that I can drop in a PCI slot, hook up my front audio to it, and take out the Karajan module.

What sort of card are you looking for? Stereo or 4.1 or higher? If you want a generic stereo card you can find one under 10$. Just look in pricewatch categories.

5.1 or better would be my goal. What I really need, though, are little pins so I can hook my headphone and mic jacks on the front of my case up to it.

You mean you want a card with additional audio ports that are directed inside the case? I can't help you with that.
But for my setup, I passed the audio wires from the front audio ports through holes in the back panel of my case to the rear audio ports, and it works well.

I'm sorry if I'm not making myself clear enough. But as I understand it, PFD, you are using onboard audio. Currently, so am I, and my front panel audio connectors (the little wires that run through the case and connect to little pins on the motherboard) are hooked into the motherboard (actually, the Karajan module, but that's not really important). However, I would like to use a sound card instead, and was wondering if sound cards have those same little pins (identical to the ones on the motherboard [NOT the audio jacks]) so I can connect my front audio jacks to the sound card rather than the motherboard.

Now I see. That's why I asked you about the type of connectors before. Some front panel audio ports have the pins connectors (like yours) some others have wires with headphone jacks ends (like mine), so in my case I simply plug those headphone jacks into the integraded sound ports through the back panel.
I don't really know what sound cards have the feature you need. Hope someone else helps you.

I thought about doing this, but it didn't seem like there was enough clearance from that actual fan blades to do it. I look into this, but the sound card would be a better solution....

I know it can be done because I did it with my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS. You may be able to do it with other Creative Labs' cards as well that fit your price range, but I'm not sure.

correct, i read an article on connecting the front audio pins on the audigy 2 zs.

Slash get this card if you find it, it has connectors for your front audio ports that hooks up on the card and is cheap, suppose to sound great. I might get on my self if my onboard sound goes out or something.Sound card

I have a Coolermaster Centurion case, so there might be some difference, but I had plenty of clearance to the fan blades.
