Can someone with an ATI GPU running Vista test V-Sync?

According to NVIDIA, V-Sync can no longer be forced on in the control panel. They're saying it's a Microsoft problem.

Just to make sure this isn't just another broken feature in NVIDIA's drivers. Can someone with an ATI GPU running Vista test forcing V-Sync using CCC? Make sure it's a DirectX game.

Make sure the game doesn't have an in-game v-sync setting (like BF2) or that it's turned off. Now using CCC turn V-Sync to always on and check to see if there is any screen tearing. If NVIDIA is correct, you should get lots of screen tearing.

Thanks!

i have dual boot with an 8800gts. I only notice tearing while playing bf2142. so in XP i turn on v-sync and it works. i stay at 60fps pretty consistent and it looks great. I can OC in xp also to gtx speeds.

In vista i have problems. forcing vsinc doesn't work. i get noticable tearing when moving fast across the screen.

we have pretty similar rigs.

Yeah, I'm trying to find out if forcing v-sync with ATI cards is also a no go on Vista.

Apparently, using the control panel to force v-sync will no longer work on Vista. Games will have to include an in-game v-sync option or we'll be stuck with screen tearing.

Just got Vista loaded up last night. Keep this thread bumped, and I'll test out Vsync on my X1950 Pro once I get a few games loaded.

Yes,

My 1900XTX with 7.2 cats allows vsync to work fine.

So you can disable the in-game v-sync setting and force v-sync using CCC and it works?? According to NVIDIA forcing v-sync using the control panel is no longer possible with Vista. THe game has to have an in-game setting for v-sync to work.

Running system in sig. Forced Vsync on in CCC while the game vsync is turned off results in vsync not working. I am running the Cat 7.2.

OK thanks. That's what I thought. Looks like it isn't NVIDIA's problem. Just wanted to make sure since there is so many features not working with NVIDIA's current drivers.
