Hi all,
My first post here. I have plugged in hard disk, video card, ram etc before never assembled a complete system. About to do that now and here is config - http://secure.newegg.com/NewVe...WishListNumber=7102107
Can you please suggest if E6750, or E6850 or Q6600 is best for me given below requirements(I prefer to not overclock at all or overclock slightly). Pls feel free to give any suggestions regarding other components also if you think my choice is not good
Note: Already bought the case, RAM, Hard disk(a maxtor 500 GB), wireless card. Rest are yet to be bought.
Requirements
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I do not need SLI. Not very particular about Overclocking. Plan to triple boot Kubuntu, Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP. Will add Vista later.
Windows 2003 Server is for a development environment with Visual Studio 2005 , SQL Server 2005 and such installed.
Windows XP is for playing games once in a while. Also I use it to work on Oracle, J2EE (Eclipse IDE used) , SQL server etc and will have a few servers like weblogic, websphere etc running there.
Kubuntu is primary OS and in it I do a lot of browsing, downloading, DVD burning, video encoding to an extent, video capturing (TV tuner and HD usb stick), Java/J2EE/Perl/CGI/MYSQL Development. In addition I have a RSS aggregator with abt 200 feeds right there on the KDE desktop. I also run a Windows XP virual machine (need this to play chess on playchess servers without having to boot back into Windows). I will also want to run a desktop sharing application to be able to access my desktop remotely hen I'm not at home
I am getting a notebook in about 3 months and will use that copy of Vista and install it on my desktop. in that time I'll also upgrade to a NVIdia 8 series card to make use of Directx 10. I'm not very much into gaming. When I play, I do like good graphics.
Appreciate your help.
thx,
JJ
