Can someone suggest a good batch renamer?

I have many files that are named like "file23.doc." I need to rename the numbers to 4-digit format ("file0023.doc"). What's a good program that can do this?

I tried a lot and this is one of the best - it takes some getting used to though.

I like 1-4a rename myself.

If you look at the examples they even have an entry for "I want to add a leading zero to EXISTING numbers."
