I need to do a math project on topology by Friday Morning, and I have no idea what topology is. Can someone please enlighten me?

The study of the properties of geometric figures or solids that are not changed by homeomorphisms, such as stretching or bending. Donuts and picture frames are topologically equivalent, for example.

Now you do the rest of your project.

Now now, no need to turn this into an STD thread.

There are different branches of topology. I took a class on point set topology at Maryland. It was one of my favorite classes.

Oops, I forgot to mention what it was about. It's been a long time but topics included open/closed/compact sets and stuff like that. I'm too lazy to try to remember more. All I remember was that I really liked that class. 😉

You're thinking of "phrenology", the reading of someone's personality by measuring the shape of their head (the head on your shoulders) 😀. It was debunked a long time ago.
