Can someone please explain this to me?

I think it is gimmicky. But looks like the idea is to create a larger wound very quickly. In theory that should stop a threat sooner.

I think so too. If this works as shown the cavitation would cause a good deal more damage, but he stuck a watermelon. It would be better off using ballistic gel, or even better a hog carcase.

A stab usually lasts 1/4 to 1/5 sec.

WTF is this? You hold the stabbing in while you unspray for the next 5 seconds? Absolutely garbage. & impractical.

Oh sorry. Didn't mean to link a time-stamped video. I hate that. I'll fix.

Also I really don't understand the practicality of this. I guess if you didn't want to cut your fruit up and instead thought it would be great to stab and explode it open that'd be good but not for $500....

I'm guessing this is one time use only though, since you need a cartridge?

They should make it so you can pull something to bring more air into it. Like you hold the handle and pull back the back part of the handle and it would work like a pump and reload it. You would not get the freezing effect with regular air though.

I don't think I've seen a more 'Murikan channel than that on Youtube. They even have a fully auto shot gun. :awe:

Yes the first video explains it was for divers. They stab the fish, it shoots it full of air so it will float the body to the surface. Also the wound is somewhat frozen and will prevent some bleeding so as not to attract other larger predators to your location.

ohh interesting. I suppose that does make sense but it would be pretty tough to use properly i'd think. But i guess if you're spending $500 on a diving knife you are probably pretty good at both stabbing and diving.

I think it would be better for inflating tires. No one is going to just stand there and let them pump you full like you were a gas can.

Here's another odd one I've seen, three blades, looks like it'd be a bad day if someone stabbed you with it (not that I'd consider it a good day if I was stabbed with a regular blade).

Yeah those have been around for a long time too also, I think ze Germans had a tri edged thing with blood channels back in WWII.

Something similar at any rate.

Well, that one it Austrian, so it is probably based on an old one.

Needs a way to auto-trigger when fully inserted and beginning to back out.

embolism injector. i would assume used to kill ridiculously large animals (think shark and bigger) with one stab.
not very practical.

I imagine someone stabbing, injecting the air and then the knife shoots out and back into the face of the stabber. Flesh/meat is pretty dense. You won't get a 'crack' in meat like he did with that watermelon.

Or, you stab something, it moves away as you press the air and then the knife shoots out of your hands.

Why introduce an additional mechanic to stabbing? It's just a sharp/pointy object you thrust into flesh/meat with your own strength,.. not a helping hand with air pressure.

Better yet, they should make the button trigger a projectile- onowate:
