Forgive my lack of compositional skills... I think it's from the 70's.
Melody

If need be I can add more of the melody that I can remember.

It's been months since I heard it, I can't seem to catch it on the classic station (then again I only listen to radio in my car) and when I do they never say who it is..

Any more clues? Genre, male/female, solo/group, early/mid/late 70s, what was the song about?

Male/Female singer? remember any lyrics?

male... argh, can't remember any lyrics. It was a long song.. different parts to it. The part that I posted I suppose would be the "high" part of the song.

Any ideas at least? On artist or song? At least I can check and it will give me more hints.

you need to post more of the song, that sounded like someone was playing with their $10 casio keyboard to me.

lmao. If I had a sample of the song to post I wouldn't need someone to name it for me. As for the $10 casio keyboard, well I made a mod in Modtrack and exported to MP3.. If I knew how to whistle I could probably get the tones right like the guy who whistled that other song.. Man I just tried adding more to the song and it just sounded so off. Argh..

Speaking of Yes.. well I don't think it's them but I'll download some of their songs and see. I've always heard the song on CHOM radio in Montreal, and once or twice on an LP my step-dad has, but I don't speak to him anymore...

Um...well...that's not a site for the band Yes.

It's a site that lists songs played on various radio stations across the country. Can help you find a song you just heard on the radio.

I don't know the circumstances, and trying not to sound corny, but perhaps this is a good opportunity to get in touch with him again?

Shouldn't it just be Merman? Mermaidman is like saying Womanman ;)

Maybe I'll get in touch with him and my mom soon.. but not yet. Some more time is needed...
It's so silly to think about it though. He didn't talk to his own dad for like 10-15 years.. well actually he did cause they worked at the same company and all but they were very distant. Only when the old man started dying did they finally start really talking again. Then there's my mom that has cut herself and her daughter off from the family, no contact whatsoever. My aunt pulled the exact same crap about a decade ago. I don't want to perpetuate it but it's hard to forget the things that have happened... for the next six months all I want to do is survive.. I have $10k of debt, a $250 month car lease, $400 rent, food, bills, going to school fulltime and working 30 hours a week (which doesn't quite cover all the expenses). Thank god I have a great grandmother who helps me out when I can't cover the rent, or i'd be screwed.

Anyways, back on topic... since nobody can guess what the song is, how about suggesting some good '70's and '80's songs to download? Maybe I'll find something of the same style by the same artist and be able to figure it out ;)

I went to the site, but "Yes" made me think of Yes ;)
I don't remember seeing any Canadian stations there..
