I posted this thread in Software but I'm not getting any help!
I'm trying to find simple, easy to use slideshow or photo management software that has the Ken Burns effect similar to that used in iPhoto. I want to use it to watch slideshows on my HDTV. The problem is all the PC software I tried that has it (Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 and MS Photo Story 3) all require you to render it to video first--which at 1280x720 will take a long time on my laptop. I want to watch it in realtime. I'm surprised Picasa hasn't added it yet, seeing as how they use a DirectX hardware photo rendering engine.
So far the best example I can find is a screensaver called Nostalgic. Download it (it's freeware and virus/spyware free) to get an idea of what I'm trying to do. Unfortunately, as a screensaver it lacks photo management and it doesn't have the ability to set the slideshow to music, save slideshow projects, etc.
