i have the xecuter 2.6, i don't have any problems.. but i'm using mine more of a media box anyway. I have to say tho.. I find the solderless adapters to just suck. I bought it because I'm lazy. But in the end, I trashed it and just soldered the damn thing on.

Yep, solderless = mixed bag. I had a few friends that bought into the solderless chips when they were first coming out. Over time, the connections weren't so snug and the chip had to be repositioned due to the Xboxes being transported over time to each other's houses.
I've got an Xecuter 2.6 (soldered) as well and it's been a flawless mod. My Xbox is by far my most-used electronics equipment I've ever purchased and I wouldn't trade it for anything!
You supply the hard drive and chip... pay for shipping (Since you don't live in Ontario) and I'll solder it all together and install the software for you for free...

dude that is a major rip off. where do you live?
also, get an xecutor2. the 3's have some more features, but to most people they are useless. if the 2 is cheaper I'd say go with the 2. i've had a 2.6 for ages and it works great. also go with a soldered chip.

First off thanks for all the replies and help you guys are giving me...
Well i do no how to solder, i built myself a 40W RMS AMP (it was a school project, and it worked), its just that i don't know anything about the mod chips(i know what they do),just don't know about the diagrams for them and where to get the bios or about thouse dashboards, how do they work?
Like how do you do a setup, what is a good mod chip,ect...
Thats why i thought it would be more better if i could get it mod'd for me.

The reason i want to mod my Xbox is cause i am going to South Africa right now i'm in Canada, and i will be studying there.
They use PAL where as over at Canada they use NTSC so someone here told me that if i mod my Xbox i would be able to change the video output to PAL and it would work on a PAL tv(i hope thats true:confused

Also if i do go and get some games from any where(like Japan or the US or anywhere) i was told i will be able to play them.
Another reason was that i would be able to save my games to my Hard drive so i won't have to use my disks, cause one of my games don't work any more...its got a very slight scratch:|, i think these Xbox disks are just too weak....anyway...

South Afirca: 220V and 50 Hz compared to Canada's : 110V and 60 Hz.

1. Get the 2.6CE chip for $34.99. and install it.
2. Find a HDD here or here.
3. Find the "Slayers Auto Install" disk online somewhere. It contains an auto install for evolution-x and will also setup your newly upgraded hard drive and format it correctly.
4. ...
5. PROFIT!
If you're getting an xecuter based mod chip, they have direct diagrams on where to solder, and what they are for. I have an x3, and I like the added features, but if you are tight on money, get the x2. I have a 80gb HD on mine, and still haven't filled it up (I mostly put roms and use it as a media center). As for the bios and dashboard, you get them from "a place" on irc, they have guides. As for the dashboard, the easiest way to explain it is when you turn your xbox on with no disc in it, you know that menu interface you see? That is the official xbox dashboard. When you install other dashboards, they give you more options and features (like running a game off your hd, running programs, etc). There is an ultimate setup disk that someone made in where they have pretty much all of the popular programs, dashboards, etc, and a bunch of other added features like formating your hd, etc... Another thing, why South Africa?

Part1-Seagate 160GB 5400RPM IDE Hard Drive- Thats the largest Hard Drivei could find that is 5400RPM, also all you guys that have larger hard drives like 300 and 500 Gigs how is the heat it gives off inside your Xbox?

And as for the BIOS and dashboard i don't know where to get that from, which one is the best.
Also i'm looking for a dashboard(am i right by saying that xbox media center is a dashboard) that will be able to allow me to:

3... Play movies without buying that Xbox remote
4... Play emulators

just do that you will be set. slayers has a dash (evolution X) and it installs all that crap w/the push of 1 button. even a n00b like yourself will be able to set it up after you have formatted your new HDD.
formatting your new HDD w/the new dash and all of these other apps is just 1 button push.
ive charged 50USD and 75USD a couple times but nothing more ever, anything more then that is a rip off
Ive just modded mine with a softmod. Free and cheap. 160 GB hardrive. XBMC is the best.

#xbins and #xbins-help on efnet, there is a prog that will switch from ntsc to pal i dunno about the power, #xbins has an ftp for dashes and bioses and proggys
