Can someone help me? SETUP.EXE wont run.

Ok, whenever I try to run an installation program by Installshield. It will crash and say "SETUP.EXE has generated errors and is being closed by windows..."

The same setup program will run fine on my Win2k servr machine. So I must have some DLL or something wrong. I have tried removing all non-essential apps that are running. I have also tried installing in safe mode. BTW, the machine is Win2k Pro SP2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

first off, clear out your temp folder!!! its probly trying to run some previous setup program that is in cache!
if that doesnt help leave another msg

I already tried emptying the temp folder. That didn't work.

was it a downloaded program or off a cd?

It was downloaded. It is the Motor City Beta.

But I have also had CD's not work. For example, I got a new printer and the CD that came with it wouldn't work, because it's setup program kept crashing. I had to dowload the drivers off the web, manually extract them and install them.

Also, MusicCity Morpheus won't install, same problem.

wow sounds like a mojor problem...dunno what to tell you if CD's wont install...software conflict? hmm try asking a little later today when more people are on the forums. I just wrote a letter to IBM and it rejected my email...bastids...

I have a feeling that there is a problem with Installshield. I have other setup programs that run fine. There must be some DLL or something that is the wrong version.

I am pretty sure that reinstalling Win2k would fix it, but I am planning on upgrading next month and don't want to reinstall now, then again in a month, if you know what I mean.

could always try renaming the file f.x. setup.exe => setupmco.exe
