If I were to register a domain name, can I associate that name to some personal webspace I have in my ISP or aol or something like that? or do I have to pay extra to do this?

can someone tell me how to do it? If someone could lead me a the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. :)

Like you said u have to have somewhere to host ur webpage like aol, etc. You have to somehow register a domain name and direct the name to where your webpage is stored. This all costs money, too much!

all I'm asking is how do I associate a domain name with a webpage. there is something about a primary server and a secondary server...

if i have a page on aol OR an ISP, can this be done?

The company you arrange to secure your domain name will be able to forward to your page.

Also some companies will host for you. Some for free with a banner ad or pay a few bucks a month. If you host with them you shouold also get E-Mail forwarding or a POP E-Mail account.

PM me if you have any more questions. I just set up a domain name and site this past week.

After you register your domain name, you can do one of two things. Either find a place to provide you with a host server (all traffic will be directed to that site), or use a redirection server that basically just forwards everything to a place you specify.

Check out this place -- they don't charge too much.
