Can someone help me find a used Android Samsung Tab S or S2 tablet on eBay?

The primary use will be to read longer articles on the sofa, and not the desktop.

I really like the Sammy S series with their stunning AMOLED displays - Here's a 10.5" S model and a newer S2 8"

If you're happy with an IPS display, there's more options - here's a bunch of Nexus 7 2013 models and Nexus 9 models

For cheap ($79), what about a ASUS 8" MeMopad ?

That's all I got - that and a 10.5" S, but not selling it.

Consideration that I already have a nexus 7 from 2012 that was working fine until the update made it grind to a slow death, and rendered it a paper weight, I am having a hard time ever buying another one, even if it's the next gen. Just based on principle

Looks like they all run KitKat 5.0
Will they get updated to 6.0 and run like crap?

Support your Tab S or S2 choices. And yes, they can be updated to 6, but don't run like crap ime - actually a little snappier. The S2 is a little faster than the S, but for reading I find the S great. Still my fav droid tablet.

Ok, if Tab can handle 6.0, then I am sold.
Tab S2 looks like it's $300. A lot more than I wanted to spend.
Tab S looks like $200. Still more than I was thinking, but seems like the best option.
Anything older might update to 6.0 and run like crap.

It's ok. Suggest you have a play with one - no gorgeous AMOLED - it uses the Sammy PLS screen. Their version of IPS.

1.5GB is a little too frugal - I would hold out for a great deal on the S/S2 if your patience can match your budget.

You know...with the holiday sales you find on the ipads, I find dealing with the budget android market a complete waste of my time for bad hardware. Those samsungs are utter crap, with underpowered processors, low resolutions screens, and no after purchase support. Good luck with your android upgrades. Mean while apples "dirt cheap" ipad model has a HD screen, a competent CPU and ram, and OS upgrades for the foreseeable future. I'm an android phone user but I was never happy with any of my tablets until I got a mini 2. Also I think there is credit to the 4:3 ratio it keeps sticking with.

To some Sammy is forbidden fruit. I much prefer my Tab S to my iPad Air. While the iPad maybe a tad snappier, it's heavier and feels cheaper. While the iPad IPS screen is decent, does not look as good as the AMOLED screen on the S. The AMOLED is much nicer for reading to my eyes. And there is the claustrophobic walled garden of Cuperrtino.

An interesting device in this vein has come into my possession. It's a chinese tablet that uses the same hi-res 9.7 panel as the iPads, but dual-boots windows and android with an Atom platform. The android is an older version, but windows updates to the latest. I've mostly tested it as an alarm clock, but also read some news plus whatnot, and the display is pretty good and performance acceptable. Even if the android on it becomes outdated, you can always use it with windows.

This particular one is some Onda v919, but I believe these have been out for a while with various small-time makes like Teclast, etc. The build quality is good for the price, though QA is probably spotty. I didn't buy it, but IMO worth the <200 or so they seem to go for online.
