Can someone goto this link and tell me if the Java buttons work?

Please tell me if the java buttons on the left work? I built this page and I can't get the buttons to work. I think my button.class file is corrupt.

Any advice? I have java installed on my computer. Is it working on your computer?

nope - winxp/firefox/jre 1.5

just a small suggestion though. java is pretty annoying (slow loading) and entirely unnecessary for some simple navigation buttons. i'd ditch it.

Thanks guys, any suggestions whats weird is I used the same .class file on 4 different websites and 3 don't work but 1 does. I tried copying the .class file that works to the unworking .class file then it didn't work again.

I like using buttons and it always seemed to work fine before, any suggestions on how to make buttons without java.

javascript rollover images are infinitely more suited to the job than java applets

Considering his web design ideas are from the mid 90s, he probably doesn't realize that google exists yet.

Why do you want to people to download and install a 7+ mb plugin that takes 30 seconds to load just so they can click "Gallery" on your web page?

HTML has a built in feature for that. It's called "links". If plain text looks too boring to you, you can even use images as links. You can even make images that look like buttons.

It's not about that, I understand what you are saying and you're right. It makes sense what you're saying. what bothers me is you made a rude comment about me in your reply. It was uncalled for. I may not be some great webmaster but I know a little or enough to help out friends or family make simple webpages, nothing fancy just something simple.
And you know as well as I do most people just stare when you say html, java scripts, etc etc. I taught myself the little that I know and I am proud of that. I'm 33 years old and when I was in school they did not teach web design like they do now. We just did simple word processing on our Apple IIe's.

Also on the website that I gave a link to there were about 7 buttons for various pages, not just 1 for "gallery" and on another site I did for a Real Estate Agent there were 17 buttons.

I said you were doing web deisgn from the mid 90s, because that's when Java buttons were in fashion. If you had asked about why your pentium 166 didn't work, and I had said something about hardware from the mid-90s, it's not a rude comment about you, it's a true comment about old hardware (or old web design ideas).

And on the site you linked to, there are not 7 buttons, there are 0 buttons, because they dont work.

asking for help in OT is bound to get responses as bolded. if you were to have posted this in the correct forum (software, applications, programming), i'm 100% sure you would have gotten more than "google for it, noob" from me, and i'm 90% sure you would have gotten some useful help from notfred as well, though it probably would have contained his snide remarks anyway 😛
