Can someone give me a brief explanation for CS:Source

Really big noob to CS, just wondering what the point/objectives to playing are...I just run around shooting people as I have a ut2k4 mindset, but I'm wondering what I SHOULD be doing.

3. keep hosties from being rescued
4. Preven something from blowing up

The best way to learn CS, in my opinion.

- Follow your teamates. Stay at the back of the pack and watch the other entrances, guard their back. Always stick together, it dramatically increases your odds.

- As a new player don't worry about winning the objective... just provide support and kill the enemy team.

- Drop the bomb if you're a T and don't know where to put it. Always purchase a defuse kit as a CT.

- Download a buy script and set it up to general use. Tweak it as you play more and learn your style.

- Be sure to jump+crouch to get up on high boxes and ledges.

- Don't be afraid to walk so you can hear foot steps. Make sure you're the one moving when you attack the enemy. The person standing still provides a perfect target, the person moving will always have a fraction of a second benefit over a non-mover due to internet latency.

- If you're behind the ping curve (always getting shot before you can react), don't be afraid to quit and rejoin the game. You'll get a much better position in the server order and thus get much better odds when you meet the enemy.

- Always shot in short bursts and aim for the head.

- Always puchase armor and helmet when you can afford it.

- Purchase a real AK47 to protect your house, because the AK rocks!

I suggest spectating for a little while.

Terrorists try to plant and then guard the bomb, while CTs try to prevent a plant or defuse the bomb once it is planted.

Terrorists try to guard hostages while CTs try to rescue them.

Often times one team just eliminates all other players on the enemy team, an instant win unless a bomb is still ticking down.
