Can someone explain this benchmark to me?

Okay, with some further looking around I see that they tested with maximum in-game settings for visuals, which is different than AT's method of generally medium quality settings at medium resolutions.

Still, that's really GPU-limited.

Those results are all GPU limited... I'm not sure what exactly creates +/- 3 fps in a gpu or cpu limited benchmark but it doesn't really matter.

AMD does extremely well in Far Cry 2 benching for whatever reasons.

I've seen that in reviews here @ AT as well.

So if all you play is FC2, then an AMD CPU would work well for you.

Really? From what I've seen that built-in benchmark (which is all anyone seems to benchmark with) tends to produce massive differentiation between high-end i7 CPUs and Phenoms (like, the i7 is literally twice as fast). Meanwhile in real-world gaming, and just about all other games benchmarks, they perform so close to each other that you'd never notice the difference.

I wish AT would test in-game rather than using that thing, it seems to be more of a synthetic bench than a measure of actual game performance.
