<<You should have asked her if he refused to turn his cell phone off too?>>

LMFAO!

I think my response to the jealousy remark would have been something like, "Yeah, you're right. I've always wanted to annoy the maximum amount of people possible by being a self-centered little twerp."

And there lies the SAME EXACT sh!t I'm talking about with a LOT of SUV drivers. Go look at the threads about SUVs - there are quite a few comments implying jealousy of SUV haters. People just want something to make them look cool/important/of higher status/etc.

How come SUV got into this thread?

Anyway, your comparsion really suck! If I drive any types of car and annoy the hell out of you on the road, you still pissed off no matter what types of car I drive.

<< haha.. that's pretty pathetic. i'd expect something like that out of a 14-16 year old who just got their phone but a 20 year old? you'd think the 'coolness' factor of having a cell phone dies by this age. >>

ACM noted the results of a study that found many males use cellphones to show their status. This might explain the frequent losers in local cafes who have their ricer phones sitting on the table and let the entire ringtone "song" play before answering it. There is, however, no explanation for the group you encountered  -- but good for you for saying something :)

<<

<<

<< there called stupid kids. I hate cell phones for that very reason. Buy a cell phone killer. >>

So do ALL my teachers.

Everyday they'd say: put's your phone away, put's your calculator away and puts your walkman away. Sometimes five or six times during a period.
>>

is there a reason they don't just confiscate those things?

btw, in college, some professors will just kick you out of class. i like that solution better actually.
>>

I "intercept" phone calls in my class :D You want who? Oh, I am sorry, he is listening to my lecture right now --actually he is sitting right here cringing. Why don't you call back after our class ends at 9:30?

She thinks you were jealous? Doesn't she know that every 15 year old kid who works at Mcdonalds has a cell phone these days?

she was EXTREMELY immature for 20, but maybe she really was 15-16 and looked older or she just has serious courtesy issues.

<< I personally have abandoned the "normal" phone completely, cellphone is all I use these days. >>

Same here. Only reason I still have phone-line in my apartment is because of ADSL.
