Agreed. On the right navel, the right piercing is very attractive. Not so attractive to see long dangling jewelry with a fat roll hanging over the top of it.

it's a way to glorify the fact you are showing your belly and it also draws attention to it.

If you think about it, putting something in your ear sounds a whole lot more unusual as I'd rather be near the belly then near the ear.
