Can someone explain how to force settings in the CP?

I know that sounds like an elementary thing but I've been messing around with the Nvidia CP and when I try to force settings I get the exact same results going from say 1600x1200 0AA/16AF to 1600x1200 8AA/16AF in UT2004. I tried to check for jaggies during gameplay but the 0AA and 8AA settings looked exactly the same to me.

Basically all I do is look for the game profile in the big pull-down list and then set the settings I want and hit apply. Strangely it seems to change the settings for all the profiles when I change just one profile.

I'm trying to determine if 8xAA is useable in UT2004 and CS:Source. Can someone explain how to do this? A crayon and paper would be ideal but since we're on a forum you'll have to make due with small easily understood words.

From what I heard, anything above 4xAA on a single Nv card disables AA automatically, because the card can only to up to 4xAA. But maybe someone else with a Nv card can confirm this. If you're referring to SLI AA, then I dont know what to tell you, but maybe there's a separate way of enabling it.

What driver version are you using? Some drivers have a profile bug. 81.98 profiles work fine, as do 79.11.

8xAA is a standard AA mode for nVidia cards and should work regardless of SLI.

YOu may want to try nHancer out for profile management. It has a better interface than the standard CP and is capable of doing more too.

I'm using the 81.98 drivers. Maybe I'll give Nhancer a try again. It worked ok before except for the annoying pop-up message I got when I tried to modify SLI profiles.

Dunno where you heard that but I get an immense quality increase from 4xAA to 16xRGAA (nHancer). Maybe it's just twice as slow once you need more than the frame buffer can provide because the data has to be swapped out?
