UPS is bad for me. 3 day package sent on the 28th of December. Arrived Jan. 3rd.

It should have been delivered on the 31st, a Friday.

I just checked the tracking number again now. It claims it was "Out for delivery" on the 31st. That's BS. I checked it on the 1st and it didn't say that. They added it after they delivered it to me on the 3rd.

Every package that enters a UPS distribution center gets put on a truck, unless there is a hold on it from the retailer.

I still dont know how they know when the box is out for delivery. They dont scan them when they come off the flatbeds or when they get put on a truck. ?

USPS and UPS don't do this do they?

I have a package due from Staples - shipped UPS. It was marked "out for delivery" on the 13th. Didn't arrive. Said rescheduled for delivery on the 14th. Was "out for delivery" on the 14th. Didn't arrive. Whoops! Weekend! No delivery! Was rescheduled for delivery on the 17th. Hasn't arrived yet. So, yes, I guess the other services do things like that. :|
Why even bother with delivery? You should just go pick up the package yourself if you can't be there to sign for it. UPS is good in the sense that they require signature proof while FedEx will just leave it at the doorstep, unless you pay extra for the service.

Not true. If they have room in the truck, they will usually ship it. I have had a number of packages arrive early.

Meh, never happened to me; I guess it's YMMV.

My local Fedex warehouse is about 5 minutes away from where I work. Everything I order gets shipped to work, and it always sets at the warehouse for 1-2 days because it's not due for delivery.

The sad thing is they won't me pick it up from the local warehouse even though I know it's there. According to Fedex, the package is part of a larger shipment of packages, and they apparently don't get sorted until day of delivery.

If the package was shipped anything other than Fedex Ground, they always let me pick it up ahead of time at the warehouse. However, if the package is shipped Fedex Ground, it goes through another center and they will not even go look for it.
