Say somebody wanted to name their kid, "8251". Is that legally acceptable? Also, are there any people in the civilized world actually named "God", or "Satan"?

I saw an article where a judge in one state (I forget which one) ruled against the numbers thing.
Not sure about "Satan" and "God".

Incidentally, the guy was a social studies teacher trying to prove a point.

I have heard of people changing their name to God as well as Satan. But then again, I live in Cali ;)

No one has actually answered the original question about naming a child just numbers. AFAIK, yes you can name a child numbers, though I don't know why you would want to...

Wow...that's really a funny question! I never thought about it before...don't know if you could name a child with just numbers or not. Poor kid if ya did, though. I mean, come on, we all know that we are really just a number anyway - as it pertains to our job, the government, etc. LOL

I really hate seeing people who have goofy names...makes me wonder what the parents were thinking. I went to school with Charlie Brown, James James, and a few other kooky combinations. :D

I read where a guy went to court to have his name change to a number. The judge ruled he would have to have the number spelled out. He could have his name to eg. 'Forty Two' but not '42'
