Can somebody explain to me whats goin on with my Win2k systems

Ok my one machine, XP 2100 ASUS A7N266-VM with 512MB PC2100 Corsair.

My main machine XP 2600 Epox 8RDA W/ 1024MB PC3200 Corsair.

My Epox machine takes FOREVER to fully load into Windows, meanwhile my Asus machine loades windows in about 20 seconds even with double the amount of auto-start programs.

My Epox machine also takes a lot longer to load certain program e.g. Outlook, and it also takes ages to open things back up after playing a game.

I did have to reinstal 2k over an XP installation on this machine, could this have possible done something to my install? I verified all my Windows 2k files with SFC.

Also at startup on my Epox machine Winlogon is what is hogging CPU time for about 3 minutes or longer, why?

More than likely it is a Service that is failing to load.

Check the EVENT LOG to look for clues as to what it is.

Are your drives running DMA mode? Check your Primary IDE controller in Device Manager.

Both my drives are set on Let Bios Set Transfer Mode w/ Ultra DMA 5 Ultra 100 chosen.

Is it possible that I am using a crap cable for my main drive? I think this is something I considered before and I changed the cable, I really can't remember.

For the speedtest on my main 60GB Maxtor 8mb cache 7200rpm drive, I get:

Burst Speed: 87.3
Sustained speed: 38.1
