It was 144 until I tried the 145. C: drive won't even boot at this point (Well, it might boot after the SYS C:...still copying the files from the CD...should have just rebooted to see if it would work).
Ok, reformatting C: right now. I think something just went nuts for a split second and wiped out the boot record or something on C:. FDISK /MBR didn't help neither did SYS C:. We'll see what happens now.
NOW, installing XP with FSB at 145 and memory at 2.5-3-3 and in Normal, not Turbo (does that make a diff?)
And, ya know what? This time I'm not using the Promise Ultra133TX2 drivers that came with the card (on a separate floppy). Using the ones built into XP. Hmmmm....we shall see.
ARGH! Same darn product catalog fatal error. Even with an XP Home CD I found instead of the 120-Eval Professional CD. Trying the Home version again with the Promise driver from the Promise website this time.
GETTING better. Changed the PO_VID (?) jumpers back to all 3-4 for 1.85v and upped the DDR RAM voltage to 2.7. Also using the updated Promise driver and have RAM settings in BIOS at 2-3-3 (instead of 2.5-3-3) and installation of XP has passed the point of fatal errors before... Oh, left out the Netgear FA311 card, too. Might try an FA310 or a DLink I saw lying around. (Maybe I shouldn't have...took *5 min.* to get past the "installing network" portion...sheesh!)
