Can print wireless, cannot print wired?????

Long story short.........

HP Photosmart c3180 w/ just the basic print driver installed on all systems.

ALL computers setup EXACTLY the same. (Printing to same printer-server-specific port w/ exactly the same settings, etc.)

2 wireless laptops print perfectly fine.

The wired desktop will not print. Documents time out and windows pops up error message from clock tray saying it there's an error. Won't even print a test page!!!!!! Changed ports on back of router, but no joy. I am clueless.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled countless times, but no way.

If I can print wirelessly, that means the info is getting to the router. From there....and being I can browse the internet......I have absolutely ZERO idea why it won't print!!!

(arrrggggh!!)

EDIT: If it helps, I notice when I log on to the print server I can print the test page from there. (Airlink APSUSB201 which has its own test page button in its own menu) But I can't print the standard WinXP test page from Windows. Rechecked/reinstalled everything & it's definitely detected properly, ports setup properly, etc. just will not print!

What are the port settings? I assume it's using a TCP/IP port? Have you tried setting the port portocol to LPR, entering the Queue Name, and checking the box for LPR Byte Counting?

What the Printer is connecting to?

If the Laptops print directly to the printer it means that the printer is connected to the Wireless Router.

That's how they're all set up by default. Qeue name is the same as port name (I assume that's how it's supposed to be as it works on the laptops).

The print server is plugged into the router. The wired desktop is also plugged into the router. And both laptops connect wirelessly thru the router.

It just makes no sense to me. Especially since I'm able to log in to the print server (meaning it's talking thru the router) on my wired desktop and click the 'test page' button in the print server's menu.....yet can't do the same via Windows 'test page'.

I have another desktop I'm thinking of trying to hookup just to see if that one can or can't print wired. If it can, then I could at least isolate it to something within my current desktop. (shrug)

I have a D-Link printer server at home and our Epson printer installed in Raw mode by default. This worked fine on our XP machine, but the Vista computers had issues. But those issues went away when I switched to LPR... I was hoping it would be the same here.

Also, the queue name on our print server isn't the same as the IP. It's part of the model number. It says something like "StylusRX58"... I don't remember exactly, but it's something like that. But maybe it works differently with your equipment.
