yes, people can get fleas, but usually only if you dont bathe.

If you do bathe, it's still possible for a flea to jump from the dog to you and bite you while you're playing with the dog. The flea will probably get washed off by the next time you bathe, though.

Definitely. Fleas are also attracted to some people more than others. Best thing to get rid of them is to go to your vet's office and get Advantage. That stuff is a miracle. I saved a stray kitten, brought it home, bathed it in flea shampoo and my other cats still got infested with fleas. One suffered from fleabite dermatitis - flaking skin, and she was pulling her hair out. I "Advantaged" all the cats and the fleas were literally gone in less than a day. Advantage is a bit expensive (~$30ish for four tubes) but well worth it. BTW, don't waste your money on the over-the-counter stuff that packaged in tubes to look like Advantage. I tried it - it's relatively expensive and it doesn't work. My vet has had several cats in his office that were poisoned by the OTC stuff.

[Edit]
I should add the Advantage is for the dog, not you :D

well the vet applied 'front line' flea control today, hopefully it will do the trick.

It will itch, like a mosquito bite.
