Can people actually improve their singing voice? Or if you have a bad singing voice are you just screwed? I have a bad singing voice, not even modestly bad, just bad. Is there anyway to improve? I'd really like to have a good singing voice :(

Yes. You can improve how you carry a note. Most of us are born with an adequate ability to sing, but to harness is another thing.

You can improve it substantially with training, in most cases.

The biggest hurdle is identifying what scale you can sing and in what range. You may well be able to become a VERY GOOD singer with the appropriate training....but it MAY be entirely impossible for you to sing the type of music you'd *like*. (If you are a basso, for example, not much chance of you singing Justin Timberlake covers)

Of course, there is always the possibility you just don't have a voice for singing. I don't. I can't do a full scale in ANY range.

most people get singing lessons if they want to improve their voices.

i had a solo in my 6th grade play. one of the attendees, a teacher, approached me after the performance and told me that i have a great voice -- "do you take singing lessons?" (i guess that took me aback, since i hadn't heard of such a thing until that point.)

go into a studio to record your singing and tell the producer to improve your voice
