There was a problem with my connection, and they asked what kind of error message i get when i try to connect with enternet 300. i told them i dont have that installed, and they asked why not. and then i said because i am using a router. then the lady was all, im sorry, we do not offer technical support with a router. then she got the number for linksys tech support and gave it to me. is it legal for them to do anything to me just because i was using a router? Am i now in the list of people that use routers? o btw, that woman was a B!tch. she tried hanging up and i wouldnt let her. mwahahaha. she said thank you for calling pacbell, please try to call linksys. and i said listen, im not asking about the frickin router, im asking bout my connection. o ya..is swearing at them ok?
I didnt say anything bad, but i was about a hair away from yelling at them like crazy. my dsl wasnt working for a month. Do you believe that?!?!? do you know what a guy does during those long hours?!?!?

Yup, it's legal. I'm 99% sure it would be in the terms of service that you agreed to.

I was refused tech support from my old DSL provider because I ran Win2K. "Not a supported OS." was their response. (this was when it was fairly new)

Never, EVER tell a Pacbell tech that you are using a router. Their head will spin around until it explodes, and mass confusion will ensue at Pacbell technical support headquarters.

Don't do it. You will be labeled as if you had the plague.
They want to charge you for every computer in the house.

Don't worry, they won't tag your account or anything. It's just that the tech you are on the phone with always goes into "sorry I can't help you" mode when you mention the word router.

Try plug back the modem directly to one nic and use enternet300 to test - that's what they'd say if they know you're not using enternet300.

Normally, I don't do that, when it's down, I know it's down, it won't be caused by me using router.
Everytime when it's down, I'd just call customer service, listen some BS - turn off modem, wait at least 30sec, turn back on, reboot computer, I'd pretend I've done that, and get a ticket number. After few hours, it'll up again, and I'll feel it's faster than before.

It's all dependent on the tech you were talking to....I had to call Tech Support for my friends cable modem and I told him that I had a router, he was very cool about it and said even though they technically don't support routers he would help me.

Yes pray you talk to a nice person. My roomate works at my ISP and works in tech support. He's told me of some stories like yours. Many many techies at places are c#cks and say they can't help.

i think they have a special department that goes to the houses of people like you, pumping their routers full of lead.
